Summer vacation begins for the South African schools today, December 10, 2011! Yesterday was their last day of school for the year. The kids were at school for just a few hours, just long enough to enjoy class parties and to hear what everyone would do for their month-long break.
Last weekend, I attended the eMazantsi Parade near my home to celebrate the beginning of summer. Children from many of the local schools were in the parade. You can see my pictures in this Animoto production. Don’t you love the costumes and the colors?!
They are lucky kids! Right?
That doesn't sound like a long break.Wow!
i meant like they start at 9:15 and end at 1:00 maybe that is what I meant
Maybe we do if they end school early? Right!?!!?!
It looks like the South African kids get more school time then we do. We get 10 weeks of summer break!
You’re right, William. New York school students have 181 days of school per year. The South African students have 200 days of school per year. When I’m in the schools more, beginning in January, I’ll learn how they spend their time at school. I wonder who has more academic time per school year?
