In our Base 10 math system, we know that all the digits slide to the left one column when you multiply by 10. Conversely, the digits slide one column to the right when you divide by 10.
The question is: WHY?
Why does 0.001 x 10 = 0.01?!
Why does 0.001 ÷ 10 = 0.0001???
Watching the videos below will help you understand. Be sure you have your volume turned on. 🙂

1,000,000
1000
10,000

100,000
Now, how can you follow the pattern to multiply and divide by 100? What about by 1000?!

I agree with Bethany.
This is great, and whenever I forget how to do this, I’ll watch these videos. But I know I probably won’t forget!
Everybody did a good job!
