Recognizing that high-quality instruction drives student achievement, SOCSD promotes its educators’ ongoing professional growth through training, instructional coaching support and leadership opportunities.
Instructional Coaches plan and deliver differentiated professional development in their areas of expertise, model best practices, vertically and horizontally align curricula, and provide teachers with resources and materials to deliver high-quality instruction for all students. Instructional Coaches serve the district in the following practice areas:
Instructional Coach, Literacy (6-12)
Instructional Coach, Math (6-12)
Instructional Coach, Science (9-12)
A district-wide Leadership Team comprised of administrators and teachers representing each grade level guides continuous curriculum development, alignment and implementation for each of the four core subject areas (English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies), Response to Intervention (RTI) and Technology. Teams review programming, practices and resources in the context of current research on pedagogical practice, state and national standards and District strategic goals.
