Summer STEAM Camp

SOCSD launched its Summer STEAM Camp in July 2016 to provide enrichment programming for South Orangetown students in grades K-8. The annual, two-week, half-day summer program is led by school district faculty who develop exciting, hands-on projects in a variety of subject areas to engage campers in a fun, exploration-oriented environment.

DATES: Tuesday, June 29 – Friday, July 9, 2021 (no camp Monday, July 5)
HOURS: 9:00AM-12:00PM
LOCATION: Tappan Zee High School

CONTACT: Jessenia Cursio and Samantha Levine, STEAM Camp Coordinators

  • Open to current South Orangetown public school students (grades K-8) who attend WOS, CLE or SOMS
  • Programs are led by SOCSD teachers
  • No cost for families to participate

We are very excited to continue to offer STEAM camp this summer to our students currently in grades K-8. The camp will run two weeks and will take place June 29-July 9 with no camp on July 5. Camp will run from 9am-12pm. There is no camp on Monday June 28 or July 5.

The core values of STEAM camp are to give students opportunities to dive deeper into STEAM topics that they would normally not get to during the school year. The topics extend from the school curriculum and reach beyond those projects we are capable of doing in larger groups. Therefore we will continue to maintain small class sizes no larger than 12 students. This is especially crucial in distance learning to make sure the teacher can attend to all of the students.

Students will have three 50-minute sessions 9:00-9:50AM, 10:00-10:50AM and 11:00-11:50AM. Snacks will be provided on these days.

Camper Registration & Selection
As in the past, we will be filling spots through a lottery system should we get more applicants than spaces we can fill. Therefore, before you apply, PLEASE make sure that your child(ren) can participate in ALL 8 days of camp AND can handle virtual instruction for age-appropriate projects.
