Earth Kids Club 2018: Week 5, 10/30

Let’s celebrate our connection to each other, nature and the Earth with a yoga pose and salutation, “Hello Sun! Hello Earth! Hello Rain! Hello Wind! Hello Ocean! Hello Wind! Hello Rain! Hello Earth! Hello Sun! Namaste.”

Thursday, the Earth Kids, along with other voices from our school community, shared the recycling pledge with ALL of William O. Schaefer. We are very excited to redirect the WOS recycling program! We are hopeful classes signed the pledge and are recycling properly in the classroom! We will award those classes with a Particpation Certificate to proudly display on their classroom door!

This week, Earth Kids will make posters to remind the school community to Refuse, Reduce, Reuse & Recycle! We are positive everyone will do their best to make William O. Schaefer a school that makes a difference!

🎃Happy #NationalPumpkinDay (October 26)!  Happy #Halloween2018! After Halloween, don’t trash your pumpkins…there are several ways to recycle them with wildlife and your garden in mind. Please remember the ideas listed below apply to non-painted pumpkins. Toxins in paint can be harmful to wildlife. Also, keep pumpkins away from the house, ideally near trees or in the woods.

  • Compost your pumpkins
  • Make a snack-o-lantern
  • Leave pumpkin seeds for wildlife
  • Cut the pumpkin into pieces and toss out for squirrels and other wildlife
  • Plant the pumpkin seeds for next year

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
