I love my local farmers market! Buying locally produced food helps to protect the environment by lessening the transportation of goods, it supports the local economy, local farmers and it enables me to eat fresher food from a known source!
This week the Earth Kids are going to meet a bee keeper! Bees are some of the hardest working creatures on the planet, and because of their hard work ethic, we owe many thanks to this amazing insect! All sorts of fruit and vegetables are pollinated by honey bees, such as broccoli and squash, apples and almonds. Pollination is not just important for the food we eat directly, it’s vital for the foraging crops, such as field beans and clover, used to feed the livestock we depend on for meat.
Watch the video below,”The Importance of Bees.”
We are very fortunate to have a special guest visitor with us this week to share their experience and expertice about the importance of bees.
