Earth Kids Club: Week 16, 4/17

Did you know Earth Day 2018 is dedicated to providing the information and inspiration needed to fundamentally change human attitude and behavior about plastics?

The Earth Kids Club is working hard to educate William O. Schaefer about recycling and the benefits of packing a waste free lunch! Last week, we shared a video we created showing how you can pack a waste free lunch…watch it HERE!

We also conquered the cafeteria by decoratng bins for plastic water bottles and a table to collect and recycle CLEAN trays! It is a slow start (not everyone is paying attention) but we will persevere and maintain a positive mindset as we continue with the recycling efforts! Please remember to EMPTY all water bottles and plastics that are being recycled.

Last week we donated $15.84 to HiTor Animal Shelter. Thank you for your recycling efforts!   Question: Could you bring a water bottle to school that you could refill at one of William O. Schaefer’s refilling stations? #breakfreefromplastic Be the CHANGE!

Plastic pollution is one of the most important environmental problems that we face today. It impacts the environment and our health and wellbeing. We have all contributed to this problem …mostly unknowingly…and we must work to reduce and ultimately to End Plastic Pollution. From poisoning and injuring marine life to disrupting human hormones, from littering our beaches and landscapes to clogging our waste streams and landfills, the exponential growth of plastics is now threatening the survival of our planet.
