Earth Kids Club: Week 15, 4/10

Earth Day is right around the corner! Our Earth Kids Club have been busy Making Every Day Earth Day!

Our focus has shifted from the classroom to the cafeteria! We have been talking and planning ways we can help the environment by making small shifts in something so simple as our lunch! We noticed that a lot of lunch items that could be recycled have been tossed in the trash, and from there it goes into the landfill! YIKES!

This week we will start simple by recycling the cafeteria cardboard trays. The trays will be stacked on a special table, please look for the table and do not put your tray in the trash!

We will also be sorting the plastic water bottles by size (tall and short) to support HiTor, our local animal shelter! Please EMPTY ALL water bottles before recycling! Be sure to look for these changes during your lunch period!  If you notice a classmate forgot to recycle, give them a smile and a kind reminder!

There are lots of ideas for simple and easy ways to make a more positive impact on the Earth are coming your way…we must be persistent in order to make change! Please help….REDUCE, REUSE ans RECYCLE!

These are the bins students will see at lunch time.

Another great way to make less trash for the landfill is to pack a waste free lunch…listen to this message from the Earth Kids Club to learn “How to Pack a Waste Free Lunch!”
