Knowledge is Power

A democracy is only as strong as its people. Therefore, the success of America rides on the shoulders of an education. In The Pearl, one of Kino’s many dreams is to supply his son, Coyotito, with an education. In chapter three Kino states, “But Kino’s face was set, and his mind and his will were set. ‘This is our one chance,’ he said. ‘Our son must go to school. He must break out of the pot that holds us in.”
