This year marks 20 years of recycling in Rockland County for the Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority! For two decades, 20 years, the Authority has been working hard to increase the community’s awareness of recycling and sustainability, in an effort to minimize waste requiring disposal in landfills.
Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority is looking for environmental poster designs with a positive message to be included in their 2019, 20th Anniversary Celebration Calendar. The calendar will highlight a different environmental theme each month, with tips and reminders on how to Go Green in Rockland. This means there will be 12 winners! One poster will be selected for each month!
Submissions should be designed to include one of the following themes. Submissions can include both images and text.
- BYOB…Bring Your Own Bag! (Switching from plastic bags to reusable)
- Better Choices Can Stop Ocean Pollution (Plastic bags, straws, utensils, takeout containers, etc.)
- Nurture Nature By Composting (Waste reduction through composting of food leftovers)
- Donate And Give Your Clothes A Second Chance (Waste reduction and reuse through clothing donation)
- Recycle Because Once Is Not Enough (Recycling turns unwanted items into new products)
Each submission must include the following information on the back: student’s first and last name, school name, school representative name, Ms. Eyer & Ms. Rossi, and grade level.
Any posters that have student or school information on the front will be disqualified from the contest. Please follow the instructions carefully.
You have 34 days to make an awesome poster…Plan. Do. Review. Deadline for all submittals will be Wednesday, October 24, 2018. NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you have any questions please contact Earth Kids Club advisors, Ms. Rossi or Ms. Eyer.
