This cycle, second grade will read, One Grain of Rice retold and illustrated by Demi. After sharing the story, students will play, FreeRice. FreeRice is a non-profit website that is owned by and supports the United Nations World Food Programme.
FreeRice has two goals:
- Provide education to everyone for free AND
- Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.
Feeding the hungry is made possible by the generosity of the sponsors who advertise on the site.

- If you get it right, you get a harder question. If you get it wrong, you get an easier question.
- For each answer you get right, 10 grains of rice is donated to the United Nations World Food Program.
