Snowflakes and Snow Days

Screenshot 2015-01-30 20.34.28Another snow day tomorrow or perhaps a delay? There are some great resources for students to “play” with during those winter snow days.  The first two links below are my favorite:

Text Snowflake Creator – This site allows you to add three words to place into your snowflake.  You can play with shape, font, and color for students to design a snowflake unique to them.

Snowflake Maker – This site is called SNOWDAY, and you will be amazed at the designs people create. There are snowflake makers from all over the world and snowflake messages in all different languages. You can find-a-flake by searching name or location. You can create a snowflake and leave a message for someone to find. You can even get your personal snowflake printed on dozens of items like t-shirts, mugs, and cards.

Snowflake Creator -Create 2-D & 3-D Snowflakes that rotate.

Snowflake Puzzler National Geographic offers eight different puzzles for students to solve.

Winter Match Game – Just like the game memory, students have fun finding matches.  They can scramble the cards and play countless times.

Winter Word Search – From winter to mittens, students search the puzzle for 12 winter words.

What would it be like to be a real weather person – not just someone who reports the weather, but someone who can actually control it? Well here’s your chance. Using our Interactive Weather Maker, you’ll be able to turn a sunny day into a windy day. Or create a rainy day. And if you create the correct conditions, you can make a blizzard – complete with a whiteout! Create your own weather with Scholastic’s Interactive Weather Maker!
