Grinch loves to read! Who knew? No one! Grinch wanted to keep his love of reading a secret. He read books that rhymed, he read under the blanket with a flashlight, he read under the table, he read while Max pulled his sled and he even read in the bathtub (of course, there was no water in the bathtub)!

The Grinch was reading the Geronimo Stilton series and started creating codes with the Fantasian Alphabet. He was really into codes. He was practicing the code (I Love To Read) and he left it in the Spanish book he returned to the library the day he met with me, Ms. Eyer! Oh NO! He could not let his friends find the note and know the truth about his loving to read (the code note was the red herring)!

He had to sneak back into the library to retrieve the note, he was hoping it went unnoticed and would still be in the Spanish book. He was carefully looking through all of the books on Mrs.Edler’s return cart when he heard someone coming..it was Jackie, the security guard! Jackie checks our building every morning before teachers and students arrive. Well, in his haste to find the note, the Grinch ruffled through all the books and knocked them to the floor! Jackie’s footsteps were getting closer, he had to hurry! No, he had to flee! In his hurry to leave without being seen, he dropped everything…the note and his backpack filled with his most prized, personal possessions: his journal, his books, dog treats for Max and sunscreen to protect his delicate skin on his trip to Mexico!
