This week in library, kindergarten students will analyze information effectively and efficiently by recognizing and differentiating between fact and fiction.
Students will read Squeaking Bats by Ruth Berman. This book covers a lot of nonfiction information about bats. It explains in detail how bats find food, how their young travel, and much more.
Students will read Stella Luna by Janell Cannon.
Knocked from her mother’s safe embrace by an attacking owl, Stellaluna lands headfirst in a bird’s nest. This adorable baby fruit bat’s world is literally turned upside down when she is adopted by the occupants of the nest and adapts to their peculiar bird habits.
Students will listen for facts about bats.
A list of “bat facts” will be created as students discuss differences between fiction and nonfiction.
