This year, kindergarten students have read thousands of books! During their library visit this week, we will celebrate students’ favorite books by creating a “Top Picks” booklist. Students will reflect and share their favorite books read throughout the year. A “Top Picks” list will be created and shared!

As a class, we will review the parts of a book cover using the ReadWriteThink Book Cover Guide. Following the review, students will recreate the cover of their favorite book, including the basic identifying book spine information: the book’s title and the book’s author. Creating the books spine will be used as an end of the year assessment, the book covers will be used as book recommendations for the incoming 2016-2017 Kindergarten class.

The book covers and the “Top Picks” list will also be used as book recommendations for summer reading.
