Twisting Your Tongue

Just like athletes warm up their bodies before a game, we too need to warm up our voices to get ready to read. Warming up and concentrating on one part of the body at a time is called isolation. We will use “Tongue Twisters” as the isolation activity to warm up our voices! “Tongue Twisters” are a fun way for stretching your mouth and getting ready to read or speak to an audience. Using “Tongue Twisters” as a warm up is an excellent way to get your mind and body ready before preforming or debating!

Try the  “Tongue Twisters” below with a partner. Try to say the same “Tongue Twister” three times in a row.

Are you warmed up? Now keep score with your partner! What do you notice about “Tongue Twisters”? Make up your own “Tongue Twister” and post it below!

You can find Tongue Twisters in your public and school library @818.5

This is a fun center for your classroom or library. I am using this as a “Maker Space” activity in the library.
