A plant will grow from a tiny seed,
Some water and sun is all you need.
First the roots grown underground,
They suck up minerals from all around.
Then come stems, some tall, some stout,
And next the branches spread about.
Leaves grow in all shapes and sizes,
Watch this new life as it rises.
Flowers bloom from buds on stems,
They are as pretty as precious gems.
Some plants give us juicy fruit,
Some have vegetables at the root.
New seeds travel to and fro,
By wind and water, on the go.
And the cycle keeps on going,
Soon new stems and leaves are showing.

Below is a time lapse video from seed to plant. The project was filmed over 4 days. 1007 pictures were taken! 1 picture every 5 minutes!
Before cameras were invented artist had to draw pictures of plants so they could be studied!
This week in library, with a partner, you will illustrate a plant of your choice, be sure to include as many parts of the plant as you can! When you have completed the illustration, use an iPad to take a picture of what you and your partner illustrated.
Once the picture is taken, open the Skitch App. Import your illustration to Skitch and label the parts of the plant. When have added all of your labels, send your work to picture60ball@photos.flickr.com your illustration will be added to the photostream on your teachers blog!
