Hector, Terrence, and Dee have always wondered about their school lunch lady. What does she do when she isn’t dishing out the daily special? Where does she live? Does she have a lot of cats at home? Little do they know, Lunch Lady doesn’t just serve sloppy joes—she serves justice! Whatever danger lies ahead, it’s no match for LUNCH LADY!

Jarrett J. Krosoczka has been passionate about storytelling through words and pictures since he was a kid. The video below tells the tale behind his popular series, “Lunch Lady Graphic Novels.”

On the first friday in May, celebrate the men and women who make our school days a little better …the school’s lunch staff!

Ask students to make cards for the lunch staff. The cards can be in creative styles like hamburgers, pizzas, plasticware and lunch-boxes!

 

 

 

 

Use Story Board That to create a “School Lunch Hero Day” comic. Story Board That has the ability to upload your own images, upload images of the men and women who help with lunch in your school and include them in the comic.

Interview the school lunch staff. Ask students to create a 140 character biographic  tweet from the interview. Create a Hall of Fame banner with pictures of the staff in the lunch room and post the biographic tweets! Consider establishing a twitter account for your classroom or contact Mrs. Nerkizian or me to tweet the student created tweets for you!
