Green Screen Action

Step One:

William O. Schaefer “Rookie Reporters” will create a script for their broadcast.
The students will be working with a writing and reporting partner. Each pair will be assigned a news topic or event and will be responsible for researching, writing and reporting about their assigned topic or event.
Here is a list of suggested events:

  • Introduction to the “Rookie Reporter” production
  • Weather
  • Word of the month
  • Up coming events at WOS
  • Up coming events in the community (Colonial Days, Library events,etc.)
  • Art as a Special
  • Music as a Special
  • Gym as a Special
  • Library News
  • Lunch reporters (what is the favorite lunch? Can students create a survey?)
  • Recess reporters
  • Weekend or after school plans (What are students doing this month?

Step Two:

Hang a green screen on a flat, open wall. Make sure this area is well lit and clear of shadows. You may need to add extra lights!

Step Three:

Practice. Practice. Practice.Β Film your students in front of the green screen as they read the script. The student must be free of the colors green and blue for this to work. Use the iPad Video to film.
