The Ickabog!

The Ickabog is described as “a stand-alone fairy tale”.  The Ickabog is Rowling’s first children’s book not to take place in the Harry Potter universe. The story takes place in a kingdom ruled by King Fred the Fearless, the story is focussed on a mythical monster called The Ickabog that is rumoured to eat children.

During lockdown, fans of J.K. Rowling can read her latest book for free on The Ickabog website.

The first two chapters were released on 26 May, the entire book will eventually being uploaded. It will then be published as a physical book in November 2020, with an illustration competition running alongside, allowing children ages 7 to 12 to feature in the book. Royalties will be given to people affected by the coronavirus.

When J.K. Rowling introduces new characters,  you can visualize them instantly…she excels at this! The  Ickabog is no different. Get started reading the chapters published to date!

How To Enter The Ickabog illustration Competition: (you must be 7-12 years of age) 

1. Read J.K. Rowling’s The Ickabog, www.theickabog.com.  

2. Check out the illustration themes each weekday when a new installment of the story is posted.  ILLUSTRATION THEMES

3. Review the Guidelines below and the Official Rules. OFFICIAL RULES

4. Encourage a child (aged 7-12) to create a hand-drawn or hand-painted illustration based on one of the illustration themes, using a single sheet of standard letter-sized (8-1/2″ x 11″) unlined paper, in portrait/vertical orientation.

5. Scan/photograph the artwork and use the official entry form below to submit the entry before 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, July 17, 2020.
