Welcome to Personal Narrative!

We're starting an exciting new unit this week: Personal Narrative Writing.  This is one of my favorite units, because everyone has a story!

Think about the story of your life.  Do you remember the other day when we listed people who make us feel happy?  Reply to this post and share a story of a time when someone made you feel good about yourself.  It can be a family member, a friend, a teacher, or even a pet!

Try to write about 40-50 words (that's less than you think!)  I can't wait to read your memories!

  1. I’ll share my story to get you started!

One time I was visiting my grandmother. My mom and I went to the store, and I got a Planters Peanut Bar (which is one of my favorite candy bars!)

The next time I visited my grandmother, which was several months later, she had bought six Peanut Bars and hidden them all around the room where I was sleeping. It made me happy to have the candy bars, but what really made it special was that she remembered what I liked. She made a game for me of finding the candy, too. The candy is LONG gone, but I’ll have that nice memory of her forever.

  2. Evey year during winter break I go to Ireland and I get to see my cousins. When I get there I am so happy to see my Grandpa, Nana, Granny and Grandad Q because I have not seen them in over a year. I spend 2 to 3 hours playing at my cousins houses. I have 12 boy cousins and 4 girl cousins in Ireland. I love going to Ireland.

  3. A few years ago my dad took me to Notre Dame to see a football game vs Syracuse. I didn’t know what to expect but I thought it would be fun since I love football. We drove there through a snow storm. We went with some friends, Dwayne and Tyler. We all got to march into the stadium with the band. It was so crazy. The fans were all jumping around like maniacs. It was also very cold. I could not believe that some of the fans had their shirts off and they spelled Notre Dame on their chests. It ended up being an amazing experience. It was so special of my dad to take me. I will never forget it!

  4. This summer I went to North Carolina. At North Carolina my dad got me a boogy board because I accidently broke my other one. I loved boogy boarding with my brother and my dad. But boogy boarding was not the only thing that we did in North Carolina, we also had a pool, a hot tub we went crabbing, we went kayaking, and saw wild horses but today I just wanted to write about boogy boarding today.

  5. I remember when my family and I went to Long Branch New Jersey. We do every year. I love the warm sunny beaches they make me feel like I’m a new person. The ocean view is beautiful at sunset when we walk on the beach together. I remember how the smores at the beach bonfire melt in between the crackers. Every year I look forward to tasting delicious smores on the beach. The sand in my toes is like I’m walking in a big sand box.

  6. This summer I went to my Grandma’s house in South Jersey. We went to Seaside Beach and went on tons of rides and played lots of games. The most awesome thing I did was I went Bungy Sky-Diving with my older brother Billy. First they put a safety harness on us then we went up these stairs where they attached us to some bungy ropes and pulled us up backwards towards a huge pole that was way biigger then our school, bigger then the highest step on a ladder on a firetruck, all the way to the top! So high! When we got to the top, my brother had to pull a lever to let us go, and he was more nervus then me!, I wasn’t even scared! He pulled the lever and we flew over the ocean SO FAST!!! Then bungied backwards towards the pole, then flew back towards the ocean!!! Back and forth, back and forth!! It was one of the funnest times of my life!

  7. When I first got to Yankee Stadium, me and my dad got our W B Mason Truck and went to monument park. I felt good because I finally got in monument park. It was also special because my dad took me. I ate, got in to my seat and the game started.

  8. During the summer I play basketball with my brother. We have lots of high scores. For layups the high score is 6. My mom and dad come out and we play the champion game. It is my brother and me against my mom and dad. My brother and I always win. It is so fun!

  9. A long time ago my dad, sister and I would go fishing. We haven’t been in a long time. Over the summer I told my dad that I really wanted to go fishing. He took us fishing in Sparkill a few times this summer. I caught 3 fish the first time we went. It made me feel good that my dad listened to me and took us fishing.

  10. I loved reading these memories! It sounds like everyone has had really special times with family!

  11. Hi everyone!

This past weekend we went to New York City to see my cousins, the triplets. My Aunt Terry invited me to come to help her and to play with my cousins. On the first day, we went to The Bronx Zoo. It was Aunt Terry, Uncle Joey, Angelina, Olivia, Kayla and me. We sometimes called them “AOK”. AOK is the first letter of each of their names, but not my Aunt Terry and Uncle Joey lol. I was looking at the fish and I looked over and I saw one alligator sleeping and one alligator staring at me! It was pretty weird and scary because he looked like he wanted to eat me and Olivia.

After to Zoo we went back to the apartment. On the second day I woke up at 6 in the morning and saw AOK sitting around me on the bed and I screamed “aaaahhhhhh”. We played some more and went to the park. This was one the happiest family weekends of my life. The little babies look at me like their big sister/cousin.

    Sarah 🙂

  12. I remember when my family went to fresno for christmas we stayed in a RV at night it was pretty big out side very fogy on christmas day we came in to the house to …

I have to go to bed finish it later by.

  13. One day over the summer my family was planning on going to the Aquarium in Norwalk CT. There was a lot of traffic so we decided not to go and got off the highway. We were just driving around and found Rye Playland. I had never been there before but we had a lot of fun. I went on the Dragon coaster and I went on it a thousand times. There were some kiddie rides that my sister liked and I liked them too. I liked going to Rye Playland with my family. It was really fun!
