Adventure Begins at Your Library! Summer Reading is here!!
Another year of school and all the adventures that go along with it have come to an end, but summer adventures are just beginning! Reminder that eBooks and audiobooks can still be accessed from SOMS without leaving your home or even on the beach or wherever you may travel to this summer! We have plenty of ebooks & audiobooks in SORA to get you through any adventure on the road, in the air or wherever you may end up.There are several options available. Please read about them here. While the school library is closed over the summer, our counterparts at the local public libraries would love to see you in person!
The ELA Department of South Orangetown Central School District requires students to read over summer break. Research clearly correlates the amount of reading a student does over the summer to his or her academic growth over the school year. Students entering grade 6, 7 and 8 should read a minimum of two non-fiction and/or fiction books (approximately 500 pages or more) count as two books. This is a minimum requirement. We encourage students to read widely, and they should not limit themselves to two books.
