How To Practice for Playing Tests

Playing tests are scheduled during the school year. Here are some ways to help you do your very best-

How to prepare for your playing test:

Look through each section to be sure you are playing the correct notes and fingerings. Fingering charts are available on the internet if you don’t have one handy.

Look over the rhythms, articulations and dynamics. Yes, they are important!

If you are having difficulty, break it down into smaller pieces- even if that means two notes at a time. Gradually, put it back together.

Correct and a little slow is always better than fast and messy. Once it is correct, it is not difficult to bring it up to speed.

If you are completely stuck, see Mrs. Tocco to set up a time for extra help.
