Welcome to SOMS Band!
There are two large bands at SOMS. Concert Band is for all 7th and 8th grade band students and Symphonic Band is for all 6th grade band students. Jazz Ensemble is a select group for 7th and 8th graders who play standard jazz instruments.
General Information:
It is critical that you remember to:
*Bring your instrument for band and lessons,
*Have extra reeds and valve oil in your case,
*Maintain your instrument so that class time is not wasted on things like stuck valves,
*If your instrument is broken…. Bring your instrument to the band room in the morning so I can look at it before band. If I can fix it, I will. If not, I will tell you where you can take it for repair.
*Take practice copies home for practice,
*Make time in your schedule to practice!
*Remember that only “Perfect practice makes perfect!”
*Make the most of this opportunity!
*Give your best effort at all times.
