I liked the fact that Russell helped others escape, even though he didn't. He acted selflessly, not caring that he could have died. This was an act of kindness to all that were aided.
I agree with Peter. Russell, the waiter, was so kind. His story reminds you that even though there are some very bad people in the world, there are some really great people, too. Russel put his life in great danger to save others. He even gave his life vest away. I hope that they find some evidence of him. Also, I’m so glad that the $800 Million idea worked.
This is such a tragedy. I wonder how the captain feels. Is he ashamed? Is he sad for the two people’s family? And is he worried that everybody would blame this whole thing on him?
It was EXTREMELY kind of Russell to give up his own life jacket for someone else to help them survive. He did this even though he may not survive without it. One thing I learned was how long it took to get a boat like that out of the water. I had no idea it would take over a year and a half! It was also cool how it will be rolled up and metal boxes will be attached to the sides so it can float.
After a year and a half, the Costa Concordia is finally being removed. I am very happy that engineers are removing this sad memory. I admire the man Russell because he helped save people and even gave his own life jacket away. But sadly, he didn’t make it out alive. Russell had the trait of selflessness, a trait I would one day hope to have.

When I watched that video I was amazed. I was amazed at how the first idea worked. Usually, that never happens in real life. The engineers behind this must have been really smart.
That is some crazy stuff! Russell did the right thing to help others. I feel bad for him and his family. It’s amazing how they got the boat back into shape. It’s also very fortunate that the boat sunk super close to the shore, and that it went down horizontally instead of vertically. I hope everyone that survives is doing well.
I agree with all of you. Russel was the most generous person on board.He put other peoples’ lives in front of his and especially at a time when the boat was sinking. Thee engineers must have really thought this through. The really important plan had to work. It was an expensive project.
