Doodle 4 Google 2018

Dear Parents and Students!

Doodle 4 Google is an annual program that invites K-12 students in the United States to use their artistic talents to think big and redesign our homepage logo for millions to see. The goal of Doodle 4 Google is to give students a blank canvas but to spark their curiosity with a broad theme.

Doodles are meant to surprise and delight people when they visit the Google homepage. Who better to surprise and delight than talented and creative young artists! Google would not exist today if it weren’t for creativity, passion, and imagination so we love to celebrate and promote these values in our younger users.

This year, Google asks students to exercise their creative imaginations around the theme, “What Inspires Me?” One talented student artist will see their artwork appear on the Google homepage, receive a $30,000 college scholarship, and a $50,000 technology grant for their school along with some other cool prizes!

 Brainstorm time:
1. Think  about the things and people that inspire you.
“I am inspired by (idea or thing), because (act or thing they do). I want to be more like (idea or thing), so I (positive
action).”
2. Do some imagination “magic.” The “magic” is complete, when you transform your brainstorming into an idea or thing that inspires you!. It can be anyone or anything, but it has to be a positive thing (so no Darth Vaders, Kylo Rens, or Megatrons ).
3. Play a short bit of “inspiration music”!
4. Make copies of this page and have students draw a picture or write a sentence describing their transformation!

Now it’s time to doodle! You can any medium that inspires your inner artist… paint, clay, or even food to create a doodle that represents your  inspiration! Click HERE for the  submission forms!

Please see the Judging section of the How it works page for details about how the contest is judged.

Last year Google received 114,000 submission from students across all 50 states. Be sure to plan wisely. Mrs. Piteo and Ms. LaBrake are a fabulous support at WOS…TWO FAB Art Teachers! Think. Talk. Sketch. Edit. Sketch. Edit. Sketch. Edit. Draw. Draw. Draw.  Finish. Submit.
