#howto Use a Shelf Marker


At the beginning of the year, kindergarten students learned there was a system to organizing the library. Students learned about shelf markers, how to remove books from the shelves and how to replace books on the shelves. All books belong in a special place so that we can find them. A misshelved book is a lost book. It is our job to help keep the books in the right place.

Each student decorated their own “Shelf Marker” which is also is used as their library card during book check-out. William O. Schaefer students learned “ShelfMarker” Hokey Pokey remind them “How to Use A Shelf Marker!

Sadly, it seems students are forgetting what we learned. What better time for a #howto reminder, then when all kindergarten students are engrossed in their #howto writing unit!

Step #1

You put the shelfmarker in,
You take the book out,
You leave the shelfmarker in,
Chorous: Find out what it’s about.
You do the hokey pokey
And you turn yourself around.
Put it back if your in doubt.

Step #2

You put the book back in,
You take the marker out.
You put the marker in,
Chorous: Find out what it’s about.
You do the hokey pokey
And you turn yourself around.
That’s what it’s all about.

Step #3

You take the book with you.
You take the marker too.

Step #4

You line up at the desk
So you can check it out.
You do the Shelf Marker Hokey Pokey
And you turn yourself around.
That’s what it’s all about!
