Properties!

I hope everyone is having fun (or had fun) creating a property bag!  I can't wait to guess them on Monday!

One day this weekend, examine the properties of your dinner.  Come here and tell us several properties.  You may tell:

  • color
  • shape
  • size
  • texture
  • flexibility
  • smell
  • taste
  • sound

…or you may think of other properties.

Then try to guess what your classmates are describing!

Science Tuesday!

Hi!  I missed you today!  I was at TZE, but I was at a meeting with other teachers about science.  There were teachers there from kindergarten all the way up to the high school.  I found out what kinds of things you learned in science at William O'Schaefer, and what kinds of things you're going to learn about for the rest of your time in school!

Blog Challenge:  What is your favorite thing you have learned about in science in ANY year of school?  What other things are you interested in learning about?

Water Review Quiz

Hi, everybody!  I've made a self-quiz to help you study the ways water changes state.  Try it and see how you do!  I'll give you two extra credit points on your next science quiz just for trying it.

What’s Your State?

No, I don't mean New York!  We've been learning about states of matter!  What have you learned about solids, liquids, and gases?

Blog Challenge:  Name one thing in your house that is a solid, one that's a liquid, and one that's a gas.  Try not to name anything anyone else already mentioned.  BONUS: Name one thing in your house that is a semisolid, with some properties of a solid and some properties of a liquid.

Blastoff!

Later this year, we'll be visiting the Lower Hudson Valley Challenger Center for our Mission to Mars!  Did you know that every NASA mission has had a special patch?  Look at them here.

Just like NASA, we need a patch for our mission.  Look at some past mission patches by classes who have gone to the Challenger Center.  What do you think would make a great patch?  You can print out as many of the template as you need.  Use them for practice or create multiple designs.

Remember to spell everything correctly.  Be neat!

Bring in your patch by Monday.  We will have a vote to decide our class patch!

Wednesday

Today was really fun!:)  We got awesome dictionaries!!!!!!!:D  We also got to go on the computers for science!  We did our morning work too (as usual.)  We had lunch (as usual.)  Today we had indoor recess.:(  We did watch a movie!:D

Great job, Will!  Here are some pictures and video of us with our dictionaries.

Here's your Blog Challenge:

1. Find a new word in your dictionary.  It should be a word you did not already know.

2. Write the word and its definition here.

3. Read the definitions your classmates have chosen.  Try to use one of your classmates' words in a sentence.
