Get your Chromebook ready for school before classes start on Wednesday, September 5th. Follow these simple steps to make sure your Chromebook is charged and prepared for your classes:

  1. Plug in your Chromebook to charge it. Make sure it’s connected to both a charger and a power source. This will help it get out of the battery disconnect state.
  2. Turn on your Chromebook by pressing the power button.
  3. Connect your Chromebook to your home WiFi network to check its status.

Once you complete these steps, your Chromebook should be all set for classes.

If your Chromebook doesn’t turn on even after charging, try the following:

  1. Check your power cord to ensure it’s properly plugged in. If you’ve lost or damaged your power cord, you’ll need to replace it. You can buy a replacement Universal USB C USB-C Chromebook Charger from Amazon.
  2. Make sure your Chromebook is charging correctly. If your battery is completely drained, it won’t turn on unless you plug it in. Connect the power cord to a working outlet and your Chromebook. Wait for at least 30 minutes; it should have enough power to start.
  3. Disconnect any external devices from your Chromebook.
  4. If your Chromebook still doesn’t turn on, try a hardware reset. Turn off the Chromebook, unplug the power cord, and remove any external devices.
    • Press and hold the Power button and the Refresh button simultaneously. The Refresh button is usually above the 3 and 4 keys.
    • Keep holding the buttons for 10-15 seconds, then release them. Your Chromebook should start up again.

If you have any problems with a damaged or lost device, contact peyer@socsd.org or visit the TZHS Library to discuss the issue.
