#TypewriterOrchestra
Sunday, March 22, 2020, the New York Times Crossword Puzzle was created by Brendan Emmett Quigley. Reading on I discovered he is currently a member of the Boston Typewriter Orchestra. Who knew such a thing even existed! I decided to delve deeper…
The Boston Typewriter Orchestra (BTO) was founded in 2004 and is a collective percussion ensemble for typewriter and voice based in the Boston area. The Typewriter for Orchestra was composed by Leroy Anderson who completed the work on October 9, 1950. It has been performed many times by different people. My favorite performance is by Jerry Lewis. The music has a bunch of different energy in it, including Joy, Love, Constancy, and Perseverance.
Challenge: Do you have an old typewriter in a closest? Take it out, tune it up and let’s see what you’ve got! Send your typewriter video to @TZHSLibrary #typewriterorchestra #whynot
