Kindness: Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.

K is for kindness! It’s a simple word, it’s true, but it’s amazing what a word can do! How will you be kind today? Small actions make a big difference!

“Be the wind that fills another’s sails!”

Today Mr. Matt Tavares visited the 2nd grade  children at William O. Schaefer. He shared with us how he wrote and illustrated his newest book Red and Lulu.

The children shared their published  Small Moment stories with their classmates.

On Tuesday we started our 1st lesson with Stage Left .  Our teacher is Miss Andrea Siegel.  The students will be learning theatrical skills of the voice and body as they explore and retell fairy tales and folk tales with their classmates. The children were excited to participate and we learned about focus, cue, character, plot and setting.

In Writing Workshop the children are given independent writing time after we meet for a mini lesson. The children then meet with their writing partner to share their writing. They can ask questions and give advice to one another.

Today the South Orangtown Fire departments came to visit William O. Schaefer School.  The children learned about fire safety and how the equipment works on fire trucks.  Ask your child what they learned about fire safety.
