Bird Feeder Engineers at Work

After learning about animal adaptations, first graders in Ms. Rossi’s class designed and created bird feeders!  First students worked together to choose a bird (cardinal, blue jay, woodpecker).  Next, they looked closely at the bird’s beak and noticed its size and shape.  Then they discussed and planned what kind of bird feeder would best fit their bird’s body, head and beak.  Finally, they used recycled materials to build their bird feeders!
