Did you know April is Mathematics Awareness Month?

A few years back, hundreds of images of super-sized shapes Tetris were displayed on the side of the 29-story Cira Centre located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Circ Centre houses hundreds of LED lights embedded in its glass facade which normally displays colorful geometric patterns at night. However, yesterday, fans had a little fun with a big version of the classic Tetris video game as competitors used joysticks to maneuver them into place. Tetris was created by Russian computer programmer Alexey Pajitnov in 1984 and challenges players to rotate and arrange falling shapes into complete rows. The game became a global phenomenon in the late 1980s after game designer Henk Rogers, who had seen Tetris at a trade show in Las Vegas, acquired the rights and struck a deal to put it on Nintendo’s original Game Boy!
