May 1, 1931 the Empire State Building was completed.  Ten million bricks, sixty thousand tons of steel, two thousand tons of marble, sixty-five hundred windows, seventy miles of water pipes, eighteen hundred and sixty stairs were used.  Sky Boys by Hopkinson and Ransome paint a beautiful story of this historic site.  You can visit this site: Tower Lights to understand the different lights that celebrate the various cultures. Did you know there is a yearly race called the Empire State Building Run-Up? Participants race up the 86 flights to the observation deck. Although it is no longer the tallest building in the world, it is still known for its majesty and proportion.  Visit here to view NYC from the rooftop.
