PWP is when people do something wrong, but they never give up because they have faith in themself. When I forgot my multiplication times table I didn't give up on myself because I believed in myself. Most of the time I give up but I keep reminding myself about SAMANTHA GARVEY who was homeless but achieved so much, I have a desk and text books to study from but SAMANTHA didn't even have a desk to work on. We should be thankful that we have so much to accomplish! Samantha Garvey didn't give up so that means I shouldn't give up, that is what I think PERSEVERANCE is!
One time that I persevered was when I started on the swim team. When I first started, I was sort of the worst and now if I keep up my improvement I could actually make the A Team. Both of my sisters are on it so I really want to do it. I believe that Samantha Garvey taught me a very valuable lesson, never give up on your dreams.
I persevered when I got a terrible grade in spelling lower than anything I have ever got. The next week in spelling I study the night before and the morning of on the bus with my friend. That was the time I persevere in spelling.
One time I had to persevere was when I had Serum Sickness. Serum Sickness is like a reaction smilar to an allergy. All of your joints swell up- I couldn’t walk or move my hands. I was stuck in Central Park behind a HUGE parade. I had to persevere by getting up while I was SUPER sick and wait to go to a doctor/take medicine until I got home from the city.
When we read the book a book about Wilma Rudolph, she taught me to persevere. When she had polio, the doctor said she could never walk again. However 8 years later after many days of trying she did. We learned so much from Wilma Rudolph and how to live every day. If you belive somthing that your going to do and people say that you can’t do it, if you keep trying you can prove them wrong.
When I was 6, I lost my favorite toy. I looked all over the house for it for hours a day. I asked my mom to help me and every day when I went to school she would look for it. After 2 months, I was still looking for it. I never gave up and never stopped looking for it. To this day I am still looking for it.
In class we read a book called Wilma Rudolph. Wilma had a lot of siblings and whenever they got sick she had the same sickness twice as bad. Wilma had polio when she was almost 5. The doctors said you will never walk again but when she was 12 she took her brace off after exercising a ton. Even when it hurt, she walked down the aisle in church. Wilma then became the fastest woman in the world later in her life. Wilma taught us how to persvere and live our every day life.
My class and I read a great book. It was called Wilma Unlimited. She taught me lots of perseverance. She learned that you don't always have to win. In basketball her team got picked to be in a championship game. They lost that game but Wilma didn't give up . She also was very brave. When the doctor told her that she had polio, she was very scared. But one day 7 years later she stood up and and took off her silver brace. Finally she tried her best. When she had polio, she needed to do leg exercises. She even did them when she was in pain. She would do anything to get rid of polio and not be sick anymore. It was a fantastic book! You should really try reading Wilma Unlimited!
Wilma Rudolph had a difficult childhood, but she won three olympic gold medals, and became the fastest woman in the world. When she got polio and was told she would never walk again, she was devastated. She wore a brace, which helped her, but children teased her.But one day,at church, with a bit of strength, and whole lot of perseverace, she took off her brace and took one step. Then another. Then another. No one could believe it! Wilma Rudolph was walking! Then, she tried out for a track team. She didn't make it, but an olympic coach saw her run and before she knew it, she was in the olympics! She passed all 3 races and won 3 gold medals. She then became the fastest woman in the entire world! That taught me that what ever gets in your way, you can overcome it and be strong.Just like she did.
Wilma Rudolph had a tough life she was always sicker then all the 22 kids that she lived with. When wilma was almost five she got polio and the doctors said she would never walk again. Wilma was very sad about this because you had to be able to walk to go to the school she went to. So evrey day she would do leg exersizes and go to the doctors two times a week 50 miles away at the back of the bus. Sometimes when she did leg exersizes it hurt but sometimes it felt like it was getting better. Eventually she got a foot brace and she was able to go to school. But kids in her class laughed at her and she wasn’t able to play on the play ground. One day Wilma took of her brace and walked down the hall of the church and when she got to the front with a smile she prayed. Then Wilma and her mom sent the brace back to the doctors and Wilma joined a basketball team. Her team was so good because of her that they made it to the finals but then they lost. Wilma didn’t realize that a collage coach was watching and he asked her if she would join the track team. She said yes and she won three olimpic medals and then she made a society that helps athletes. she shows perseverance because she got threw all the obstacles in her way.
My class read the book Wilma Unlimited. When Wilma was just about 5, she got a disease called Polio and when she went to the doctor, 50 miles away from her home, the doctor said she would never walk again. However, she proved the doctor wrong because when she was 12, at church, she was wearing a brace to help her get around a bit easier. At church, when she was about to go in, she took off her brace and walked slowly to her seat. When she did that, it helped her become the fastest woman in the world! Wilma persevered, that was the main part of the story.
Samantha Garvey taught me that no matter how tough things will get, you have to overcome them no matter how hard it will be. You have to stay stable and unbreakable. If you just try, it might get you a little farther. If you persevere, you will accomplish. You have to try, and try, and try even if it means you have to do it 1,000,000 times! Just do not give up. I found a artical about Abraham Lincoln. The artical is called Abraham Lincoln Didn’t Quit. Enjoy! http://www.snopes.com/glurge/lincoln.asp
Have you herd of the book Wilma Unlimited? It’s about a little girl named Wilma who gets Poilo and the doctors say she’ll never walk again so every day she did leg extrsizes even if it hurts. One day she got a brace and all the kids made fun of her. One day at church she did the most bravest thing of her life she took off the brace and stared to walked down the ial till she got to the front row. No one could beleive it Wilma was walking without thebrace! So after that she never war that brace again. Then after a while Wilma was became a allimpick runner and won 3 gold mentals and became the fastest women in the world. That showed me even if you are tould you will never do something doesn’t mean you can’t do it!
What I learned from Wilma Rudolph is never give up even when times are tough, like when she had polio. When she had polio she had a leg brace on her. Wilma went to the docters two times a week fifty miles away. That is one way she persevered. Then seven years later at church Wilma persevered and took her leg brace off and walked like a champion down the hall of the church. She also did many leg exersises even when it hurt! she won three olimpic gold metels and is the fastest woman still!!!!
In class we read a book called Wilma Unlimited. It was an amazing, but true, story about Wilma Rudolph. When she was almost five, she got polio. The doctors said she would never walk again. She did leg exercises every day, even when it hurt. One day, in church, she perservered by taking off her leg brace and started to walk. She joined a basketball and led her team to the championship game. The team lost. She didn’t know that there was a college track coach watching her from the stands. He asked her to join his track team. She was an amazing runner. She made it all the way to the olympics. A couple days before the first race, she sprained her ankle. During the race, she forgot about her ankle and sped towards the finish line. She won the race. The next race she also won. The third race was a baton relay. She was the fourth person, so she got to cross the finish line. She almost dropped the baton, but she sped past the other runners and won. She became the fastest woman on earth. I learned from Wilma Rudolph that I should never give up. I also learned that you don’t always have to win.
My perseverance story all began when I was six. When I was in gmynastics class we were learning how to do a flip off the balence beem. It was my turn and I was really nerves so I was shacking. I asked the teacher if he could show me one more time and he said yes. After he finished showing me it I got back on the balence beem got in form when I jumped I closed my eye curled up in a ball and started to spin. When I got out of the pit I was so happy and to this day I am still trying to improve on my gymnastic moves.
In class we read a book called Wilma Unlimited. It was about how Wilma Rudolph life was. When Wilma was a littgle girl and her siblings got sick she got sick too, only two times worse. Then when she was almost five years old Wilma got polio. The docters said that Wilma would either die or she would never walk again. The docter told her to do leg exercises. Wilma did the exercises even if it hurts or if she feels her leg is getting stronger. After doing the leg exercises she got a brace. But people made fun of her brace, that still did not stop her. Not to long after she got her brace her family went to church. Wilma was ready, so she took off her brace and walked down the isle. All of her family and all of her friends in silence just watching her walk to her spot to sit down , as she began to sing. Then when she was about twelve years old Wilma and her mom sent the brace back to the docter, Wilma could start to walk. Wilma then joined a basketball team and she was great at basketball. But one game Wilma's team had lost but she did not give up. She also had not noticed a coach at the game. But the coach saw Wilma. The coach said to Wilma to compete in the olympics and by the age of twenty she competed in one running race. Wilma won the race and the medal. Then she competed in a second race and she won that won too. Then she competed in the third race she was suppose to get the baton and run to the finish line. She so close to dropping the baton that another team had got in front of her. But she did not give up and she got in front of the otmner team and had won the race. Wilma Rudolph had finally became the fastest women in the world. Wilma Rudolph had a lot o perserverance and did not let obsticles get in her way. She proved that she can do something she was told she can't. We can also perservere in our lifes just like Wilma and we never give up.
One time when I persevered was when I was playing in a four game a day soccer tournament. My team won the first two games, and I plàyed so hard and I was so tired. We really wanted to win,but it was not going to be easy. In the third game my coach put me in goalie. We were winning one to zero, when the other team got to take a penalty kick. I was so nervous. All I wanted to do was stop the ball from going in the net. My heart was beating so fast, and I was so tired from playing in two other games. The girl took the kick, and I caught it. We ended up winning that game and winning the tournament. I really wanted my team to win,and knew that it was up to me to stop the goal. I persevered by putting all my fear and tiredness aside, and saving the goal for my team.
Wilma Rouldolph had a rough childhood. She was devistated when her doctor told her she had polio
Everyone told her she would never walk again. She had to wear a metel brace, but she still did leg exersises. At recess everyone teased while she did her leg exersises. One day she made her big decision at church and she walked down the ile. she took one step then another then another and another. Before she knew it she was walking, she had defeated polio in it's own game. Then she joined the basketball team and lost the championship.Althou they lost , an olylimpic coach watched the game and liked the way she ran so she joined the track team but failed.Even know she failed she joined the oylimpic team and got three gold medels in running!
ma Roudolph had a rough childhood. When her docter told her she had polio she wasdevastated.

In class we read a book caled Wilma unlimted. Wilma had 18 other brothers and sisters. When they got sick she would get sick too when they got nimonya she would get dobble nimonya. We read the book Wilma Unlimited,Wilma had a deases called polieo and the docters said that she would never walk again! In 7 years Wilma takes off her brace and walks into church without the brace. Wilma proved that the docters were wrong and that Wilma could walk because she worked hard and never gave up! A few years later Wilma was the fastest woman runner in the world!
I know right sam she is EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of you have shared some great personal experiences. Thank you and keep sharing!
Others have compared Samantha Garvey to others who have persevered. Thank you for the link to Abraham Lincoln and all the reviews about Wilma Unlimited. Feel free to describe others who persevered too. These people could be famous, personal, or local stories like the ones above.
A time when I persevered was when I was learning how to ride a two- wheeler bicycle. When I first tried to take off the training wheels and ride I kept on bumping into everything and then every day I would go out and practice riding my bike until I finally started to get the hang of it. I wouldn't stop practicing because I was very detemined to get it right.
I learned from Wilma is that never give up and keep trying like in the book when she took off the brace on her leg and she tried to walk and she never gave up.I also learned that if you didn’t get it right you should keep trying and trying until you get it right. The last thing that I learned is that Wilma didn’t have a easy life and she had some sicknesses and she got up and walked and she never gave up.
