Wright Brothers First Flight

Orville and Wilbur Wright had a passion for flying. They were determined and focused to make their dream a reality. The brothers studied all they could about the history of flight, then began testing their ideas. First, they flew a kite to learn about wind and it’s affects. Then, they tested gliders for 3 years! During this time they tested different shapes and sizes and learned how to control them. Their next step was to create a wind tunnel to determine the best shape and size of the wings and tail. Once that was determined they made the engine. On December 17, 1903 the Wright Brothers’ dream became reality when Orville piloted the first plane to lift off the ground. Without perseverance their dreams would never have come to life. Mistakes were surely made along the way, but instead of being discouraged the brothers learned from them and continued to Think, Make and Improve their design!
