February

The month of February came and went so fast!

With the Winter Recess and snow days it was difficult to get into a groove.

This month the class started working on Reading and Writing non-fiction pieces. During Reading the children are identifyng non-fiction elements and using them to learn how to read non-fiction literature. Then they are using these skills to write an”Expert Book” on their topic of choice. It is so interesting to see the different topic that they chose and what their passions are.

In Math, the class is focusing on adding and subtracting two digit numbers. The children can do this in many different ways. They now have a collection of strategies to solve problems. We continue to take Fact Quizzes. The students are reminded to practice to increase their speed and accuracy. This will help in all areas of mathematics.

In Social Studies we continue to focus on different types of Communities.

In Science we are working on the properties of liquids.

The children did a beautiful job at the Dance Festival. They worked hard on their moves and got to show them off. Thanks to Mrs. O’Rourke and Mr. Jacobs!!!

We hope that the sun shines in March and melts all of this snow.
