The Last Dance

Check this out written by self-motivating coach Dana Cavalea

I hope you guys had an amazing weekend and are ready to attack this week!

Did you happen to catch the ESPN documentary on Michael Jordan last night called: Michael Jordan’s Last Dance?

WOW. It was really well done. It documented the success of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls and also talked about Michael’s upbringing in Wilmington, North Carolina. His struggle to gain acceptance from his father and how he turned that struggle into fuel to be the greatest ever, but there was one part of the documentary that really stood out to me. That was how whenever there was a big game, Jordan would go off and lead his team with a record number of points during the game. He would put the team on his back ad the team would feed him the ball. He would go into a Mode of Dominance almost creating an internal rebellion within himself and shutting out the noise. He demanded excellence without the self-induced, negative pressures, but instead with joy, passion, and excitement. His goal was to become the best ever with a refusal to lose…

When he was asked: How do you do it?

He simply responded by saying: “I am a glass half full guy”…

What type of person are you? You see, he wanted to ball in the big moment. He loved the big stage. He loved the spotlight and the bigger the stage, the bigger the spotlights, the bigger he became! He went from being a great player to an incredible player. So much so, that the great Larry Bird said, “God was playing disguised as Michael Jordan….”

I have met Michael on several occasions… his presence is powerful. He has the look of a competitor with a really warm heart…

Can you find that level of dominance in yourself? It is in there and we do all have that ability to varying degrees… but how many of us are able to resurrect that talent from within? Very few. Very few have the discipline to unleash it. It takes work, a lot of Daily work.

It takes practice to find the perfect calibration between your natural talents, instincts, abilities, and the perfect mindset that allows these talents to come to life without being forced or squeezed…

The best of the best compete in every moment. They are looking for opportunity and never focused on the opposition. They are not looking at a virus as a derailment, but rather a chance to get better, accelerate their skill set, and a chance to keep shaving, sculpting, carving their talent set to perfection…

You can do this too. It requires the elimination of bad, non-serving habits in exchange for a daily training of your physicality and headspace with goal of creating dominance and obedience over yourself. With this focus.. you will truly learn your strengths, weaknesses, and what your next level of play looks like…

Train that “glass half full” reflex to be your permanent state. It will allow you to blow through anything in your way…

Let’s GO!

Have an awesome day
