The Sixth Annual SOCSD School Maker Faire had more than 350 students across grades K-12, presenting all types of projects to an authentic audience. This cultural event celebrates students’ curiosity and their ability to create, build, problem-solve, and invent things that are meaningful to them. Attendees were impressed by each student’s level of creativity and enthusiasm. Hundreds of projects spanned across the front and back gym at TZHS. The quality of these projects demonstrates how our children Elevate, Engage, and Inspire each other to apply their classroom knowledge to come up with big ideas, of which many address real-world situations or problems. The projects were innovative and a lot of fun to interact with and hear about. Thanks to on-going support from our Board of Education, staff, parents, and our entire school community for making special events like this possible.
Some of the projects were entitled, Duncan The Robot, Arcade of The Future, Magical Gummy Bears, Moze’s Arcade, Amazing Electricity, Antacid Rocket, Tornado In A Jar, Glitter Volcano, Milk and Soap Experiment, All About Paleontology and Fossil Digs, A World Under Water: Ecosphere, Eco Home, A Baking Soda Powered Boat, Propeller Power Cars, Bots and Bugs, Dark Matter, The Piermont Marsh (VR), Bridge Building, and much more.
The School Maker Faire is the result of the dedication, hard work, and passion of many people. Thank you to our founders and co-organizers Marc Eckert, Instructional Technology Coach, and Vicki Caramante, former PTA President and current parent, as well as George Brady, Director of Technology, the SOCSD Facilities Department, TZHS custodial staff, instructional coaches, teachers, and families for setting up and ensuring that everyone had everything they needed to have a fun and successful experience.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone again at next year’s School Maker Faire!
