Cottage Lane Fifth Graders were so excited to share their personal narrative writing pieces during our Lights, Action, Writing Publishing Party. Their narratives focused on a time they learned something important about themselves. They included dialogue that helped to move the story along, narrating the story bit by bit, and using literary devices such as show not tell to hook their audience.
Every student had a chance to read a favorite part of their writing piece aloud to their parents and classmates. Also, every adult and child team had an opportunity to read the pieces in their entirety, while providing compliments and feedback to the writers.
We are so proud of the wonderful writing the students did throughout the unit! A special thanks to our 5th grade teachers and Kristy Nadler, our Elementary Literacy Coach, for planning such an amazing event! Happy Holidays!
