During the student’s visit to the library this week, we will take an up-close look at informational text. Informational text is a type of nonfiction—a very important type! The purpose of information text is to convey information from one person who knows a lot about the topic to another who does not know as much about the topic.
Second grade classes will be reading the text titled: Bugs, Bugs, Bugs by Jennifer Dussling. As a whole group we will discuss the multiple meanings of the word “Bug” and together discover what important information the author Jennifer Dussling is sharing with us about bugs and why!
- an insect or other creeping or crawling invertebrate (as a spider or centipede)
- an unexpected defect, fault, flaw, or imperfection
- a concealed listening device
- to cause to protrude (his eyes were bugged with horror)
- a disease-producing microorganism and especially a germ
