Informational Text

During the student’s visit to the library this week, we will take an up-close look at informational text. Informational text is a type of nonfiction—a very important type! The purpose of information text is to convey information from one person who knows a lot about the topic to another who does not know as much about the topic.

9781405363174-1Second grade classes will be reading the text titled: Bugs, Bugs, Bugs by Jennifer Dussling. As a whole group we will discuss the multiple meanings of the word “Bug”  and together discover what important information the author Jennifer Dussling is sharing with us about bugs and why!

 

  • an insect or other creeping or crawling invertebrate (as a spider or centipede)
  • an unexpected defect, fault, flaw, or imperfection
  • a concealed listening device
  • to cause to protrude (his eyes were bugged with horror)
  • a disease-producing microorganism and especially a germ
