What to do with a Problem by Kobi Yamada
Math is more than a computation problem! For this challenge you will need to use your problem solving skills. Like the character in the story, What to Do With a Problem by Kobi Yamada, we will take this challenge opportinuty to LEARN and GROW!
For the activity, Bears in Wagons, students will problem solve as a group of four. Using red, blue, green, and yellow counting bears, students will create the scenerio described on their challenge cards.
Each challenge has a set of four cards. A window in the upper right hand corner indicates which card should be read first, second, third and fourth. As problems are solved, they increasingly become more difficult, analytical and critical thinking skills are necessary to evaluate the problems and to make decisions as a group.
A similiar problem solving activity is available here, at the Measured Mom: tools for teaching.
