Attention all students: If the temperature is between 21 and 45 degrees you MUST have a minimum of either a sweatshirt or fleece jacket to go outside for recess. If the temperature drops below 21 degrees, there will be no outdoor recess. Please remember to bring your jacket to recess if you want to go outside.
The Cooking Club will be meeting Today Jan 18th and Tomorrow Jan. 19th.The theme for the week will be Breakfast. Please sign up on SignUp Genius which can be found in the Google classroom. Please see Mr. G. or Ms. Cardenas if you have any questions.
The Yearbook Club will meet Today January 18th.
The Spanish Club will meet after school Today, January 18th to create posters for our Valentine’s Day fundraiser. Spanish Club members who wish to take part in our Spring luncheon must participate in the fundraising activities. New members are always welcome—this is a great time of year to get on board! See Doctora in Room 234 if you have any questions. Sweet and spicy treats from Hispanic countries will be shared out at the meeting!

The Earth Science Institute scheduled for Today 1/18/23 is cancelled and will be re-scheduled for a later date.

Art for Public Spaces will have its January Club Meeting after school on Tuesday, January 31st
Your teachers and administrators are looking for your help! We are looking for students to have an open conversation and share their thoughts about what is working, and where we can improve our SOMS community for the entire student body. The principal’s committee meeting will be Thursday, January 26 afterschool in Dr. Corey’s office
There is a book drive being held this month by TZHS students who are collecting throughout the district to promote children’s literacy. They invite you all to bring in gently used books that will be donated to the People to People food bank in Nanuet! Books can be dropped off in the Blue Mailbox in the SOMS Lobby as you come into school in the morning.
It is that time of year again! SOMS is looking for a talented 6th or 7th grade student to design the cover of next year’s Agenda Book! We are inviting students to be creative and illustrate the theme of friendship (be kind). This theme was selected by our Student Council members. All entries need to be submitted to the main office by Friday, February 17. Have a great experience illustrating this theme!

Any SOMS student who has participated in or is currently participating in a high school sport can have their picture in a special section of the yearbook. Please see Mr. Goldstein during homeroom over the next two weeks to have your picture taken.
