Winter Olympics 2018

Tonight is the opening ceremony for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. There are so many opportunities to learn about winter sporting events, countries around the world and athletes. Here are a few links:

  1. During winter vacation I watched the Olympics in Miami. My favorite thing was team speed skating. My favorite race went like this. It started normal and then the Korean racers hand slipped on a turn and he fell into a wall. They were out because they couldn’t catch up. Then with two laps left my team I wanted to win was in third. Then Hungary, the team I wanted to win past China. Then on the first turn of the last lap they were in front of Canada. I was nervous because all three of those teams inch to inch could win. They inched up more and won with Hungary in first, Canada in second, China in third, and over a lap behind Korea in fourth.

  2. Chloe Kim is an amazing snowboarder, and she got a gold medal in her first Olympics! She must have trained very hard. She probably fell a LOT.
