Happy Birthday, NYC Subway System

On October 27, 2004 marks the anniversary of the NYC subway system.  Before reading, Ride of the Century, let’s take a stroll back in time to see what it was like in NYC at this time.

  1. I have found out that one problem is flooding from rainstorms. Even minor ones. Water could disrupt underground signals and require the electrified third rail to be shut off. Another problem is trash, graffiti, and rats. It is said that they pose a health hazard and on rare instances have been known to bite humans.

  2. When the video showed how small the space was where the train rode it was about 1in away from the wall.

    If the subway was used every day why where New Yorkers complaining?

    The construction was the biggest building boom in NY history
