Earth Day is a day to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment.

One way that we wanted to do this was by decorating brown bags from Shoprite in Northvale with important messages and pictures to teach others about the importance of taking care of our Earth.  First, we brainstormed the big ideas together and Mrs. Nerkizian wrote them on the Smartboard.  Next, everyone received a brown paper bag to decorate and color.

After that, the bags were collected and delivered to Shoprite to distribute today.

We have been doing a lot of reading about reducing, reusing, and recycling to be more green citizens.  Partners worked together to read an assortment of fiction and nonfiction books.  At the end of the book, children worked to identify one big idea and one interesting detail.

My Garbology is an interactive game that teaches about sorting garbage for recycling, reusing, and composting. Sort garbage into four bins according to where you think each piece of garbage should go.  Play My Garbology by clicking the picture below.
