Welcome to the Google Apps for Education (GAFE) help pages. On the following pages, you will find resources to help you use Google Drive and the tools within Google Apps to help support instruction in your classroom. First off, let’s start with the basics.

  • To log in to your Google Apps account, go to www.google.com.
  • In the top right hand corner, click the blue Log In button.
  • Enter your school email address: name@socsd.org
  • Enter your Google Apps Password (This would have been sent to you in an email if you have not set it already).

Before you get started with Google Apps, please keep the following in mind.

1.) Protect Privacy. Sensitive student data (ex. IEP Information, Medical Information) and graded assessment data does not belong in Google Apps. We have other systems (Powerschool) that should house that data.

2.) Understand Sharing Settings. When a document is shared publicly with no required sign-in, that means anyone can edit. Do this with caution and remember that people outside your classroom will be able to access and change a document. If you do not want this to happen, be sure to only share the document with your students and/or colleagues.
