Ralph Fletcher at CLE

On January 28th, Ralph Fletcher shares his writing experiences with our students.  Listen to his picture book, Twilight Comes Twice.  He uses amazing, vivid, free-verse text to describe the transition from day to night and from night to day.  He makes these every day moments magical.

Select your favorite part of the day or year and make it magical.  Write one or two sentences on this post to create a vivid image for others.  Have your classmates try to name the moment you are describing.

  1. Thanks for sharing, Ryan and Tate. Don't forget to describe that magical moment (think showing not telling). Guess my favorite moment from last week:

I sat closely with my students mesmerized by the sounds of all the instuments coming together in perfect harmony. Without realizing it, my body was moving in time with the beat. I felt self-conscious at first, but when I looked around, I saw a whole gymnasium of people as moved as me.

  2. I think Tate's is the bus!!                                                             🙂 🙂

  3. My favorite part of the day is…

putting led on a paper and doing it freely.

  4. Guys, remember to use those descriptive details.  Think how Ralph Fletcher shared his moments with us today. I do love hearing about all these favorite moments, though!
