Curriculum and Instruction

Last Friday, new teachers met for a workshop as a part of a series that began with New Teacher Orientation last August. Dr. Joe Lloyd, Director of Staff Relations, Dr. Brian Culot, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, and Erika Prevost from Innovative Designs in Education began the day with asking teachers to talk about their mission and purpose for being an educator. We used the application, Padlet, to share what’s been going well this year and areas that require further support. Teachers created Efficacy Notebooks to help plan for their desired outcomes for lessons, units and the school year.

We focused on Building Executive Function, The Power of Feedback, Synthesis, and Reflection, and creating real-world problems using rubrics and checklists. Teachers also learned more about communication strategies through the lens of equity, and how to use six different discussion protocols with their students. We concluded the day by taking the Myers Briggs Personality Test 16 Personalities. to get to know each other better.
